Sestrières was created in 1934 under the impetus of the Agnelli family. Situated on a very sunny plateau, the resort has no particular charm, but has all the tourist facilities which would delight even the most demanding clientele. Sestrières has extremely efficient arrangements for creating artificial snow cover. The ski area is vast with the possibility of travelling on skis to different resorts via the Via Lattea (Voie Lactée) ski area. A small jaunt into France is even possible, as the resort of Montgenèvre forms part of this area.
