This village situated on the Giffre River, listed in the French national registry as a "designated historical site" (because of its examples of magnificent stone-cutting), has managed to preserve its traditional architecture. Samoëns is thus a splendid village, enhanced by a natural setting worthy of the most beautiful landscapes in Haute-Savoie. The piste departure point is several minutes away by shuttle bus, a situation usually considered as a drawback. But it is this detail that preserves the village's main assets: calm and authenticity. As for skiing, Samoëns is linked to the Grand Massif (265 km of pistes). However, due to its somewhat low altitude, the trip back to the resort can entail rather precarious snow cover conditions.
