For alpine skiing fans, the name Kitzbühel has a special meaning. It is here that the most legendary alpine skiing World Cup event takes place each year: the Hahnenkamm downhill, named after the mountain dominating the city. This event has become a ritual for the skiing community and each year everyone gathers here to celebrate together in an amazing atmosphere. The rest of the year, the city-resort of Kitzbühel offers a respectable ski area, although sometimes there is not enough snow. For fans of enormous areas, the shared Kitzbühel Alpen Skipass links 630 kilometres of runs in the Großraum region by bus.
